Having been closed to new applications since November 2008, The Moffat Charitable Trust re-opened for new applications during 2011.

It is important to stress, however, that this remains on a limited basis, although the Trustees have reviewed the grants available from April 2012 and will now be able to consider the following:-

- Awards for one year funding only will be up to a maximum of £4000.

- Where more than one year funding is requested up to a maximum of three years, the maximum award will be £6000 spread over the period of the grant.

Please note that the Trustees are only able to consider applications from organisations registered as a charity in Scotland for work carried out in Scotland.

Please ensure that all those associated with an application have read the section giving information on the categories which the Trust does and does not support.

Please complete our online Enquiry Form or print off the PDF version and return this to the Trust. This will enable us to consider whether your outline application should be put forward for consideration at a Trustees Meeting.

Once the Enquiry Form has been reviewed, we will contact you to ask for an application form to be completed and submitted for discussion at the next Trustees Meeting or to advise that your outline application does not meet the criteria of the Trust. The Trustees meet quarterly in January, April, July and October. You are advised to submit your application as soon as it is ready and it would be unusual to have to wait more than 3 months for a decision. You may be contacted for more information or to arrange an assessment visit. The deadline for completed application forms is the 15th of the month prior to the meeting.

Please note that, as with other charitable trusts, The Moffat Charitable Trust receives more applications than it has funds to support. Even if a project fits within the guidelines and a detailed assessment has been made, the Trust may still be unable to make a donation.
